The view from Mount Nebo

Our photo today was made on Mount Nebo in Jordan. The view is west across the northern end of the Dead Sea, the wilderness of Judea, and the central mountain ridge (or water-parting route).

Mount Nebo is the place from which Moses viewed the land that the LORD had promised to Abraham’s seed (Deuteronomy 34:1-8).

In the next photo the northern tip of the Dead Sea is visible on the left of the photo. This photo looks NW from Mount Nebo across the Jordan Valley (the plain of Moab) and toward the highlands of the promised land.

Moses saw this and much more, and probably more clearly. Both of our photos are sized for use in PowerPoint presentations.

  1. Thanks for the pic. I believe that Moses did see all that the Scriptures declare, but not with natural eyesight. God granted him a vision.

  3. Hi, i hope for an experts answer if someone is reading this post.
My point is that from this top Moses could see the Holy Land up to Mediterranean Sea, BUgT it seams that the sight is interapted from Judean Mountains.

    Hi,
I am not a bible expert.. I happen to visit the place in December 2016 and we could see only till the Dead Sea. I have summed up my article out on my blog.. Do have a look if you wish too.. ☺

According to biblical description, shouldn’t Great Sea (Mediterranean) be visible from the site?
