Prof. Daniel B. Wallace discusses “Fifteen Myths about Bible Translation.” Wallace is a well known and respected scholar dealing with issues pertaining to the Greek language and Textual Criticism.
Wallace says,
Perhaps the number one myth about Bible translation is that a word-for-word translation is the best kind.
Whatever your current level of knowledge about Bible translations, you are sure to learn something from these “Fifteen Myths” even if you don’t agree with all of them.

This is an excellent article and worth the read. However, Dr. Wallace says nothing that convinces me I should stop using the KJV. I just do not buy into this better text of W&H, or better English of the latter versions. I cannot accept the idea that the world didn’t have a good NT text until Tischendorf or a readable English version until the ASV or latter. The reality is we are preaching (Neh. 8:8). As long as there is a Book we will be reading the text distinctly and giving the sense whether we are using a KJV, NIV or Greek text. Thanks for the insights.
